THE MACDONALD MINUTES

Psalm 139:7-10: 7 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? 8 If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there! 9 If I take the wings of the dawn, If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, 10 Even there Your hand will lead me, And Your right hand will lay hold of me.

Throughout scripture, we see the omnipresence of God (that is, His presence everywhere all at once). The omnipresence of God is something that is both explicitly written about, and something that is subconsciously understood in scripture. God is everywhere, all at once, and this is seen throughout scripture.

In His omnipresence, we know that He is here for us. We have friends that will say they are there for us. We have family who says they will be here for us. How much more true is that coming from God, one who can’t NOT be with us?

David is a man who knew this of God. David was a man after God’s own heart (1 Samuel 13:14). David knew God, but he also knew where God was! Here he writes that he can’t go anywhere without God being there. He wrote later on in this Psalm that God was even there intricately weaving David in his mother’s womb! David knew that God was watching him even in his sin, and acknowledges this in Psalm 51. David was a man who knew the omnipresence of God, and is certainly in His presence in Heaven today!

Lately, there have been some stressors in my life. There have been some things that have weighed on me heavily. There is nothing more comforting to me than to know that no matter where I go, God is there! His unchanging and all-present nature is comforting.

For many, this can be a comfort in times of trial. God being with you can comfort you and your loved ones through hard times! Maybe it is the sickness of a family member. It could also be the unfaithfulness of someone you deeply care for. Sometimes when people hear the word “cancer” it sounds like the end of the world. And to some, it is the end of the world. But to those that have God, it can be turned a moment of reflection, inspiration, and comfort.

I have found comfort in affliction through God and His presence. I pray that you all can find the same comfort.
