THE MACDONALD MINUTES

One day, as I was reviewing a study that I was going to do the following day, a song kept popping in and out of my mind. It was an old hymn that I remember singing from a very young age all the way until now. That hymn was “Tell Me the Story of Jesus”.

As I was thinking about that song, I kept thinking to myself “Who could ever get tired of the story of Jesus?”. To the Christian, that story should never grow old. If I were sat down every day and someone told me the story of Jesus for a few hours every day, I would die a happy man. Unfortunately, it feels sometimes as though Christians can become jaded to this story.

Sure, we know the story of Jesus. We know that he was born in Bethlehem (Luke 2:4-14). We know that he preached and taught from a young age (Luke 2:41-52). We know that he was tempted, crucified, and rose from the tomb on the 3rd day. We know the story, but is it written on our hearts? Do we ask for this story to be told to us? Do we ask as the song does: “Tell me story of Jesus, write on my heart every word. Tell me the story most precious, sweetest that ever was heard.”?

I would argue that if we have the story of Jesus truly written on our hearts, then people are going to see that, and want to know the story of Jesus as well! If we are showing others that Jesus is on our heart and mind, it is only natural to ask why. When the story of Jesus is written on your heart, when you know that love paid your ransom, nothing can top the joy and satisfaction that you can and should feel.

So, as you continue in your walk, have His story written on your heart. Tell others every word. Tell them the story most precious- the sweetest that ever was heard.
