This time of year, there is a lot to be thankful for. Many people are thankful for their families, for their material blessings, and especially for the food on the table on thanksgiving day.
But for the Christian, there is a multiplicity of different things that I believe we can and should be thankful for. Our God truly has given us every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places (Ephesians 1:3). For that, we should thank and revere Him.
All those things said- here are some specific things that I am thankful to God for, and I hope that you all share in this same gratitude as well.
I am thankful for the Lord’s Church, and the blessing that they are to me. I am thankful to have companionship, camaraderie, and brotherhood with the people I will be spending eternity with.
I am thankful for my wife, and the blessing that she is to me. I am thankful for the gift of marriage that God made and ordained for His people. It is truly a wonderful thing.
I am thankful for the gift of parenthood. I am grateful to God for the opportunity to be a parent myself (this upcoming April). I am also grateful for the parents that I have who showed me how to do the walk of life in a way befitting of God’s servants.
I am thankful for the Bible, and the wisdom that it gives me. The strength, endurance, and knowledge it has given to me is beyond compare. The Bible truly is words taken straight from the breath of the almighty God.
I am thankful for all of the wise counsel that I have had over the years. I am thankful for people pouring into me and giving me the opportunities that I’ve had to do what I love to do the most: Preach the Word!
But most of all, I am thankful for my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Without Him, I am nothing. But with Him, I have everything I could ever need. I hope you all feel the same way.
Thank you, Jesus.
